Benedict on Mary
"The heart of the message of Fatima is that following the Gospel is the path to authentic peace, Pope Benedict XVI said in a message broadcast Oct. 14 at the Marian shrine.
Marking the 90th anniversary of the last apparition of Our Lady of Fatima to three young children, Pope Benedict said the shrine continues to echo Mary's call to "her children to live their baptismal consecration in every moment of their existence."
"She is the refuge and the path that leads to God," he told thousands of pilgrims at the shrine for an anniversary Mass and the dedication of a new shrine church.
During his midday Angelus prayer at the Vatican, the pope asked Mary to give "all Christians the gift of true conversion so that the perennial Gospel message, which shows humanity the path to authentic peace, would be proclaimed and witnessed to with coherence and fidelity."

What exactly do you object to Carrie?
The Pope saying peace comes through living the Gospel?
Or the Pope calling all people to repent and believe the Gospel?
The fact is, you clearly have not read the actual angelus delivered by the Pope:
http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/benedict_xvi/angelus/2007/documents/hf_ben-xvi_ang_20071014_en.html
I think this part is objectionable-
"She (Mary) is the refuge and the path that leads to God," he told thousands of pilgrims at the shrine for an anniversary Mass and the dedication of a new shrine church.
Jesus Christ is the Way, and there is no other name given. So while Mary may be used as an example-(This would along the same lines as Paul telling others to imitate him, as he imitates Christ.)-she is not the path. If this clearly said Mary is an example, no problem ont that--but this calls her a path that leads to God. That's different. If he meant to call her an example, then he should have.
But beyond that the whole Marian apparition thing is objectionable and inevitable leads to indulgences .
Kmerian,
It is amazing that you can't figure it out.
How about these:
the pope asked Mary to give "all Christians the gift of true conversion
(This is the job and prerogative of the Holy Spirit)
"She is the refuge and the path that leads to God,"
(This is Jesus)
It makes me afraid to hear you say "Umm, and the problem is?" If you can't figure this much out, there is NO way that any reunification could ever occur.
It is good to see a little light being shone on a blogsite which seems to thrive on existing in perpetual darkness.
For an appreciation of the Role of Mary in God's Plan for Redemption you should read the Book of Ecclesiasticus.
Oops! Sorry! You don't have that book in your so-called Bible do you?
Are Protestants really Christian?
